We arrived at San Juan almost 3 hours ahead of schedule--which was wonderful for Michael and I! We had planned to go kayaking on the bio bay which was scheduled from 5:15 to 11:30. We were supposed to arrive at 5pm meaning Michael and I would see nothing of San Juan. Instead we were early and so we headed quickly to see the two forts in the city. The first, Castillo San Felipe del Morro, was built in the 1500's!!!! Pretty amazing!
A look from the boat at the fort wall and city:

For all you history buffs (ie Thaddeus) here is a list of some major moments at the fort:
Jess on the staircase (Rampa de Artilleia)---isn't the water beautiful??? Michael down in a sniper hole---not that they had snipers but you get the gist...
A view from the sentry post...WOW:
This was an amazing cemetery next to the fort. It was so beautiful to me. The crisp white of the stone with the blue water in the background. The picture doesn't do it justice!A look at the second fort, Castillo San Cristobal:

The kayaking trip was awesome but we obviously didn't take pictures! We tried to take some with our cheap-o underwater disposable camera but they didn't come out. We went on an hour and a half bus ride to a bay where there are some microorganisms that when disturbed in the water they glow. It was incredible and kind of indescribable. We kayaked through a channel with huge mangrove trees, came up close and personal with many of them :) Husbands and wives in 2 person kayaks...makes things interesting!!! It was so beautiful and peaceful there. The moon was so bright and it was just an amazing experience. We are so glad we took that tour.
