Fabulous 50's Day

Today was 50's day at the boys school. They go to the gym and dance the twist, the hand jive, and play with hula hoops. Here is what my little guys looked like this morning:Happy Halloween to everyone! We are going to share it with friends and I'll be sure and take too many photos. You can count on that! Have a wonderful and safe night!

New Cast

This morning we went in for Luke's new cast! We went to the base hospital right after Kaden left on the bus for school.First they cut off his cast. He was laughing because of the vibration of the saw. He wasn't scared at all.
Then she pried the cast open:
Pulled out some stuffing:
And out came his arm! It was stiff and his hand was bent at a 90 degree angle, at the wrist, like all our hands do. That freaked Luke out! He INSTANTLY went pale on us. He said he was going to throw up. Bless his heart, he was extremely upset, he was calm but very sick to his stomach. After about 10 minutes he felt okay enough to walk down for x-rays.
A military lady was walking by and saw Luke in the x-ray waiting room. "Is he okay?!" she asked very concerned. I told her what happened and then they called him back. The tech and this sweet lady took him back in there and said I could stay out in the waiting room with Josie and Gabriel. I waited, and waited, and waited some more. I thought "that's not good." Sure enough the poor kid was puking his guts out back there! When he finally came out sweet lady was carrying him. She carried him all the way back to orthopedics! CARRIED him. I kept thanking her and thanking her. When we got there she was introducing herself to the ortho people as the Chief from upstairs. So a big wig was carrying Luke. I never did get her name, but thanks again Chief! Our friendly ortho guy Kelly carried Luke back to the cast room and let him lay down. Notice the difference in his hair, getting sick sure messed it up! His color was starting to come back. The TV in the cast room had The Incredibles on, so it was all good. The doc came in and said that Luke has new bone growth and everything is right on track. They were able to give Luke a short cast. Yippee! We both wanted that! We will go back in 3 weeks and the doc thinks the cast will be taken off for good then! Right before Thanksgiving break. Not too shabby. Luke decided to get a green cast for Daddy. Daddy's favorite color is green. So Daddy, this one is for you:

COUSINS

Fall Break was a big hit! Last Wednesday my Mom and I loaded up the kids and the freshly clean dog and went to St. Louis for the boys' time off school. We went basically non-stop the entire 4 days home! It was wonderful and my kids did such a great job! We'll go a quick day-by-day recap for those of you interested.
Thursday we chilled in the morning. Aunt LeeAnn came over with Granny and I ran off to get my hair cut. (I have long layers and she thinned out my hair so my curls would curl more--I LIKE it!). At 6 we went to see Samantha play volleyball, she's by 9th grade cousin. We had a lot of fun. That girl has some hustle and quite a serve! Way to go Sam! I forgot my camera and am still kicking myself for that!!! Afterwards all 13 of us, went to dinner at Applebees. It was yummy. We didn't leave there until like 9:30. What a fun night!
Friday the kids and I ran to the mall and Target in the morning. We had planned all week to go to the zoo on Friday night for a Halloween night out. The kids all had their costumes and were ready to go. Well an hour before we left it started raining! BUMMER! The kids were disappointed and so was the rest of the fam. There was going to be about 16 of us there! But instead almost all of those came over to Mom's house. We had a fun night with the Gienkes and when they left the Fitz's came over. We had Quizno's and it was yummy once again!
Saturday came much too quickly. I took the kids and met my cousin Rob and his 3 girls at a super fun park. The kids had so much fun playing together. Rob and I had our hands full watching the 7 of them run around. I took way too many pictures and will gladly share them with you in a sec! We came home for lunch and rested a bit. Then we went to Ben's soccer game. He is my 6th grade cousin. I do have pics of that for a later post. He scored two goals! It was very exciting! We went over to the Gienkes for dinner and had a wonderful time there with them and Granny. I love my family so! My Mom met us there after work. Then we packed up and headed back to Mom's to catch up with Becky (college friend), her niece, and cousin Melanie to watch my poor Tigers lose yet another game, this one to #1 ranked Texas. Not the outcome we wanted but we sure had fun together. I WUV you guys. (inside joke---you had to be there!)
Okay, on to park pics. I took too many so I have tried to whittle down and I'm going to post the different kid combos I have. ENJOY!!!

Halloween haunts

Halloween is just around the corner. We went to Target the other day and bought my usual little ghosts to put up in our trees. I just think they are SO cute. My Mom and I also picked out Josie's costume. Are you ready for this? She's going to be a piece of candy corn. Ohmigoodness does she look too darn adorable!!! You will have to wait for pics of her in the costume though, just trust me, they will be worth the wait!

After putting up the ghosts, Mom took Kaden and Gabriel for a walk around the block while Josie and I waited for Luke's bus. She was walking up and down the sidewalk. It was way too cute not to capture on film. So here you go. I couldn't decide which video to post, so I put up both :)

Props for my bro

For those of you not down with the Hollywood-one in our family--Thaddeus worked on the movie Speed Racer for well over a year. We watched it with the kiddos on Friday. Luke cried---twice---and LOVED it! Here are my boys finding Uncle Thad's name during the credits:They get almost as excited seeing his name as my Mom and I do :)

And here is a photo of Thad with Chim Chim before filming:

We're all a little jealous Thaddeus!!! :)

Celebrating the cast

Luke is doing really well! I am really proud of the way he has handled all of this. We went back into the doc last Wednesday. They took x-rays and Luke's arm was healing well, the bones are all lined up and it looks good. They covered his white (and signed) cast with red. The color chosen by Luke after talking it over with Uncle Thad and Aunt Jackie. Luke goes back in Wednesday morning again (10-15) for more x-rays to make sure the bones haven't moved. Then we will be back in 2 more weeks and if all still looks good then Luke will get a short cast. I'm hoping for that!
Luke has gotten many cards and sweet surprises in the mail. Thank you to everyone who sent something to him. :)
Aunt Jackie and Uncle Thad sent the coolest (and yummiest) cookie bouquet to Luke. He was really excited about that! Check out the cookies---little blond boy with a broken right arm. How adorable is that?! Thanks you guys!
My poor brainwashed child said "We need to write Cardinals on my cast so that people here don't think it's for OU." Smart boy! He wanted to make sure people knew that we did NOT cheer for the university of oklahoma! We decorated the new cast with some "Mizzou-rah" as well!
