New Cast

This morning we went in for Luke's new cast! We went to the base hospital right after Kaden left on the bus for school.First they cut off his cast. He was laughing because of the vibration of the saw. He wasn't scared at all.
Then she pried the cast open:
Pulled out some stuffing:
And out came his arm! It was stiff and his hand was bent at a 90 degree angle, at the wrist, like all our hands do. That freaked Luke out! He INSTANTLY went pale on us. He said he was going to throw up. Bless his heart, he was extremely upset, he was calm but very sick to his stomach. After about 10 minutes he felt okay enough to walk down for x-rays.
A military lady was walking by and saw Luke in the x-ray waiting room. "Is he okay?!" she asked very concerned. I told her what happened and then they called him back. The tech and this sweet lady took him back in there and said I could stay out in the waiting room with Josie and Gabriel. I waited, and waited, and waited some more. I thought "that's not good." Sure enough the poor kid was puking his guts out back there! When he finally came out sweet lady was carrying him. She carried him all the way back to orthopedics! CARRIED him. I kept thanking her and thanking her. When we got there she was introducing herself to the ortho people as the Chief from upstairs. So a big wig was carrying Luke. I never did get her name, but thanks again Chief! Our friendly ortho guy Kelly carried Luke back to the cast room and let him lay down. Notice the difference in his hair, getting sick sure messed it up! His color was starting to come back. The TV in the cast room had The Incredibles on, so it was all good. The doc came in and said that Luke has new bone growth and everything is right on track. They were able to give Luke a short cast. Yippee! We both wanted that! We will go back in 3 weeks and the doc thinks the cast will be taken off for good then! Right before Thanksgiving break. Not too shabby. Luke decided to get a green cast for Daddy. Daddy's favorite color is green. So Daddy, this one is for you:
